Professional Background
Erin is an artist and educator whose career started in social media management and agency client management. She pursued teaching licensure after working with students of all ages at a local Montessori / Reggio inspired art studio creating classes and curriculum to engage students in the process of art using the TAB art philosophy. TAB (teaching for artistic behavior) teaches students and adult learners how to engage with art like professional artists do. Instead of draw this like this, it’s here is this medium, here’s how it can work, here’s the best practices, and my expectations as studio leader. You’re the artist, explore with the medium, develop your ideas, pursue them. As an educator, Erin has had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students from 1st-5th in her classroom tenure. Prioritizing school mission and vision alignment with her own beliefs and priorities, she has a teachers heart and loves what she does. Erin builds relationships and trust first as a “warm demander” (Zaretta Hammond), which allows students to engage in the learning process in an authentic and supported way. She is passionate about guiding students to develop their own sense of who they are, and loves new challenges and projects in the classroom. I believe creativity and art are a vital part of strong social fabric, and when it’s allowed to fade we loose so much of what makes being human beautiful. I also believe that art and creative thinking can apply in any situation. Art can help us heal, art can guide us towards more joy, and art allows us to find peace within ourselves, whether we choose to create a “master piece” or not. |
