Quotes I live by:
“People will forget what you said, they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”
- M. Angelou

Who ever is making the most mistakes is winning, because mistakes are how we learn. If you are not making mistakes, you are not pushing yourself outside your comfort zone. (My mantra to my students.) (I mean, take this with a grain of salt, we should gain confidence through then, and build skill). But mistakes shouldn’t tear us down and stop us from pursuit of things.)

“If you can’t make a bad drawing, you’ll never make a good drawing.” - Jack Highberger

We are all inherently creative.

Write the story.
Make the art.

Exploring creative depths
requires letting go + going within. Play in the creative space is true process. And give yourself time.
Snail pace.

Make more art. It’s so much more than just drawing. Play with paint, color, fabrics and beads. Smear, smudge, rip, or glue.

“But, I can’t draw”
—> Yes, you can.

You just have to be willing to make the bad drawing first.

Always inspired by nature, travel, and meeting new people, I strive to keep things fresh and exciting. Creativity is our social fabric, its how we communicate our inner worlds outwardly, temporally. It is also the vital glue of social fabrics, and builds togetherness through shared experience.

The quote above (“people will remember how you made them feel”) is a favorite of mine. I had the pleasure of seeing Maya Angelou speak, and to this day it’s an experience I look back to and draw from when in a tough moment.

We are all simply human, and must decide what to do with the time given us. We can’t ask for more than that bit of choice and to keep growing. Then, we build skills. We build what we love. And must do that thing to feel fulfilled. Art is one of the few things that helps to move feeling from held dangerously within us to safely felt, moved, projected and protected onto a page or canvas. I urge you to move. For your own sake.
